🐠 Growing Through Discovery

Our Fish Class is a joyful, play-centered environment where three-year-olds begin to flourish as curious thinkers, caring friends, and independent little learners. This season of growth is full of wonder, as children make incredible strides in communication, problem-solving, and social awareness.

At The Preschool in San Marco, we understand that three-year-olds aren’t just getting bigger—they’re becoming. That’s why our classroom is thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, spark imagination, and support the rapid cognitive and physical development that defines this year.

Children in the Fish Class:

  • šŸ’¬ Build language skills by speaking in complete sentences, asking thoughtful questions, and expanding their vocabulary through conversation and storytelling.
  • 🧠 Develop critical thinking as they sort, compare, and experiment during hands-on activities that introduce early math and science concepts.
  • šŸŽØ Express creativity through open-ended art, music, and imaginative play that celebrate each child’s unique personality.
  • šŸ‘« Grow socially by collaborating with classmates, learning to take turns, and participating in community service projects that foster empathy and kindness.
  • šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø Practice independence by managing daily routines like snack and lunch, self-care, and clean-up with increasing confidence.

This is also the year when foundational literacy begins to take root. Through engaging materials like Handwriting Without Tears, children start identifying letters and sounds, developing fine motor skills, and gaining excitement about writing. Every activity is tailored to small hands, big imaginations, and growing hearts.

Are there any other considerations when it comes to placing children in classes besides age?

Yes. While age cutoffs (as of September 1) guide class placement, we also consider developmental readiness, potty training status, social-emotional needs, and class dynamics. We work closely with families to ensure each child is placed where they’ll thrive.

Although my child is toilet-trained, what if they have an accident while at school?

Accidents happen, even with fully toilet-trained children! Please send your child with a full change of clothes in their backpack each day. Our teachers handle these moments with kindness and discretion, and will always help your child change and feel comfortable.

What events does the preschool offer throughout the year?

Our calendar includes Trunk or Treat, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Program, Easter Parade, Mother’s/Father’s Day events, Graduation, and more.
